Research studies on patients' illness experience using the Narrative Medicine approach: a systematic review

19 December 2022

This thesis aims to review scientific research on narrative medicine. Out of 325 studies conducted, 10 research articles meeting the inclusion criteria for this analysis were identified. The review showed that narrative medicine research does not have a common defined methodology: narrative medicine is used both as an intervention protocol and as an assessment tool.Patient characteristics, disease types and data analysis procedures differ in screening studies. It follows that narrative medicine research in medical practice requires finding clear and specific protocols to deepen the impact of narrative on medical practice and on patients' lives.
