The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of a simulation-based communication and training programme developed for general surgery and obstetrics and gynaecology residents. Residents responded positively to the training programme and participation in the programme improved their ability to use effective communication techniques. Given that there is a critical link between communication and surgical safety, e improving residents' communication skills should contribute to improved surgical outcomes.
