Patient's right to intimacy during the provision of health services

15 December 2022

Medical personnel should treat the patient as an equal participant in the therapeutic procedure and not as someone of lesser importance who is expected to submit to the rules they impose, which is not so obvious today. They should relate to the patient with due respect, regardless of age, social status or skin colour. The measure of respect for the patient is the way in which information and medical services are provided. In the case of the doctor, he or she should not react with impatience to the patient's questions, ignore his or her concerns or ignore him or her.
