Quality of life of chronically ill elderly patients

14 December 2022

Chronic illness is itself a source of negative tensions and emotions and, as such, predictively generates lower quality of life. Research into the consequences of chronic illness is increasingly moving away from a purely biomedical model of health assessment, more often adopting a salutogenetic perspective that expands the catalogue of important data about the patient to include non-clinical categories. In a holistic approach to health problems, the 'causal value of health assessment' is enriched by subjective states that are thought to be relevant to the patient's overall life situation.
