In a simple and accessible question-and-answer format, the book addresses fundamental ethical issues related to the beginning and end of human life (definition of the beginning of life, contraception, abortion, artificial insemination, euthanasia, assisted suicide, persistent therapy), safe and effective pharmacotherapy (including drug abuse and advertising), problems of addiction, the use of alternative medicine and the conscientious objection of medical professionals. The book is aimed not only at pharmacists but also at practitioners of other medical professions. It can also be of help to all those interested in bioethical issues related to the protection of health and human life, including healthcare pastors. The book is written in the spirit of Christian personalism emphasising the human person in his/her psycho-bodily and spiritual harmony and in accordance with the teachings of the Catholic Church.
