Changes to the provisions in the Polish legal system are closely linked to the process of adapting this law to European Union law, which is still ongoing. These changes give rise to legitimate difficulties in the application of the law, the overcoming of which, at least in part, is to be facilitated by this book. This is because it presents the provisions of the Law on the Profession of Physician and Dentist and commentaries to them. This allows a broader view of the problems related to the practice of medicine on the territory of the Republic of Poland.

Although the book is not a textbook for the medical profession, it is nevertheless a working tool for the already learned profession of every doctor and dentist. Therefore, it is primarily addressed to practising doctors and dentists professionally connected with the health service, including those running a professional medical practice. The book is also addressed to employees of health service administration, medical entities, pension bodies and graduates of medical universities intending to take up their learned professions.
The book includes the Code of Medical Ethics, an alphabetical index, as well as regulations in force since 1 May 2017.
