Nowadays, communication in health care, understood both as communication between medical staff and patients and communication between medical staff, seems to be an important issue. Diverse regulations, individualised medical terminology and inadequate communication skills of medical staff, as well as complex and difficult clinical situations have a significant impact on communication. The academic community in Poland points out that teaching clinical communication at Polish medical universities should be treated as an important issue and should be approached in accordance with the latest knowledge and standards already developed in other Western countries. To meet the needs and expectations of Polish medical staff, a Clinical Communication Centre was established in Bydgoszcz, which has established cooperation with the European Association for Communication in Healthcare. The Centre will develop and design clinical communication curricula and adapt the curricula to Polish needs and resources available in Poland. It will also prepare clinical communication trainers who will teach communication skills to currently active doctors, as well as to future medical staff, according to the best standards.
