On the restoration of the importance of ethical assumptions in modern medicine

12 December 2022

"The aim of this paper is to draw attention to the ethical problems in medicine observed in the doctor-patient relationship. In some cases, this relationship is characterised by the phenomenon of dehumanisation, especially when the patient is treated as an object. This means, among other things, that the economic objective is more important than the well-being of the patient, his or her health and life. The ethical argumentation of the Polish School of Medical History, Philosophy and Ethics of the 19th century presented in the article postulates subjective treatment of the patient and disinterested care and assistance in illness." source Abstract of article in English translated into Polish
