Human Dignity in Bioethics and Biolaw

The concept of human dignity is increasingly being invoked in the bioethics debate, as well as in international instruments on biotechnology and biomedicine. While some commentators consider appeals to human dignity to be little more than rhetoric and not worthy of serious consideration, the authors of this landmark study give such appeals a clear and defensible meaning by applying Alan Gewirth's moral theory.
