Moral Contextualism in Medical Ethics 2016

Huge advances in medical science over several years have prompted consideration of the use of the right to life in medical practice. It has been recognised that the moral rights enshrined in the Hippocratic Oath serve ethical dilemmas in public life. The notion of the 'right to life' in medical understanding and practice has raised millions of eyebrows. As time moves towards multiculturalism and multinationality, a one-size-fits-all or objective moral code may not be adequate to answer the various problems in medical practice. Therefore, this study aims to bring out an alternative view of moral theorising to resolve this dilemma. It carefully analyses the value of existing moral theories related to medical practice from many cultures such as India, China, Africa etc. It offers moral contextualisation as a panacea for problems.
