Narrative medicine - stories of experiencing illness in medical and humanistic perspectives

19 December 2022

The publication presents narrative medicine from two perspectives: medical and literary/language studies. The texts collected in it focus on: the role of narrative medicine in clinical practice, the importance of narratives about the experience of illness and disability in medical didactics, selected methodological aspects of narrative medicine, narratives of doctors and patients in medical discourse, the relationship between literature and medicine, and literature and speech therapy and clinical linguistics. The first compact publication in Polish dedicated to a new field of research aimed at building a proper relationship between medical personnel and patients, facilitating, among other things, shared decision-making. Important reading for doctors, psychologists, therapists, rehabilitation therapists and their patients, as well as for sociologists of medicine, linguists and literary scholars.
