The Image Of a Doctor in a Doctor-Patient Relathionship in the Internet ERA

18 December 2022

This article addresses the issue of the image of the doctor in the doctor-patient relationship in the age of the Internet and the impact of the Internet on patient compliance. Patients know that their doctors have broader and deeper medical knowledge than they do, but the image of the doctor seems to be warmer and more patient-friendly because the huge knowledge gap that occurred between patients and doctors a few decades ago has narrowed. The image of the doctor in the eyes of the patient is not created by online health information, only the quality of the doctor has a significant impact on this. What matters most in the eyes of patients are qualities such as his or her knowledge, communication skills, empathy and chances of curing the patient. The internet age has helped patient and doctor to find common ground and better understand each other.
