Due to the lack of preparedness of the dental sector, both public and private, the vast majority of Polish dentists decided to voluntarily suspend their clinical practice. The COVID-19 pandemic revealed numerous shortcomings in the dental care system, especially in terms of inadequate coordination of pandemic-related services and a general shortage of advanced PPE. As a direct result of the pervasive fear, confusion and anxiety among dental staff, which was reinforced by COVID-19, clinical practice in Poland was significantly reduced. The sudden decrease in the number of dental procedures performed and the introduction of new infection control protocols caused financial problems in many dental practices.

Preliminary results from a study conducted during a period of heightened psychological pressure related to the COVID-19 pandemic indicate that post-traumatic stress symptoms are present in the study group of nurses. Their sense of security is reduced; they are accompanied by intense reflection on the issues affecting them.... The nurses surveyed perceive particular support from the so-called "other person" (other than family and friends). They look for positive changes resulting from the painful experience of the COVID-19 pandemic, which may bear the signs of adaptation.

Factors that can be considered predictors of occupational stress include fear of contracting COVID-19, decreased safety during emergency medical procedures and marginalisation of non-COVID- 19 patients.
