Patients referred to him as Judas Thaddeus, the patron saint of difficult and hopeless cases. Because Professor Romuald Dębski was no ordinary obstetrician-gynaecologist. Rather, he was the last chance for motherhood. Women who had been trying unsuccessfully to get pregnant for years were treated by him. And they had children. Despite their illnesses: endometriosis, cancer, inovulatory cycles, thyroid disease, heart defects or disabilities. This book is a collection of stories of women whom other specialists did not know how or were afraid to treat. Underneath the simple words are years of expectation, uncertainty, lack of hope. It is also a record of a time when patients often had to fight to get pregnant and give birth. For them, the Warsaw doctor was a miracle worker and they are the ones who have the right to ask the question: who is really pro-life? Listen to the voice of those for whom the miracle of life ultimately matters.
