Impact of chronic skin diseases on patients' quality of life

Chronic dermatological diseases, such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, vitiligo, acne vulgaris or rosacea, adversely affect patients' quality of life. Patients very often experience stress and a sense of stigma and suffer from various psychological disorders, including depression, more often than the general population. The presence of the disease has a negative impact not only on family life, but also on professional life. The study of quality of life provides a lot of valuable information to better understand the needs of sick people. This paper presents the role of stress in the pathogenesis of some dermatological diseases and the impact of chronic dermatoses on selected quality of life parameters of patients.
