The main task of the pharmacist during pharmaceutical care is to ensure the efficacy and safety of the pharmacotherapy used. Adherence to prescribed treatment regimens is a key factor in determining the success of therapy. This review examines the factors contributing to the incidence of non-adherence, the methods of measuring adherence and the strategies needed to improve it, considering the role of pharmacists and prescribers in the pharmaceutical care process.
