ASSESSMENT OF DENTAL CLINIC PATIENTS' SATISFACTION WITH THE MEDICAL STAFF'S IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PATIENT'S RIGHT TO INFORMATION

One of the basic rights of the patient is the right to be informed about the state of health, treatment and possible complications. In order for the patient to be able to make the best decision for him/herself about further treatment, he/she must be provided with complete and comprehensible information about the medical service. The aim of this study was to assess the satisfaction of the patients of the Dental Outpatient Clinic with the implementation of the right to information by the medical staff. 100 patients of the Dental Outpatient Clinic (78 women) participated in the study. There were 61 respondents with tertiary education, 29 with secondary education, and 10 respondents with primary and vocational education. The study was carried out on the basis of a self-administered, anonymous questionnaire. The questions concerned knowledge of patient rights issues and an assessment of the clarity of the information provided. In the surveyed group of patients, higher education influenced the answers in terms of knowledge of patient rights issues. Knowledge of patients' rights was declared by 75% respondents with tertiary education, also gender influenced the answer choice, more than 65% women assessed that they knew patients' rights very well and well, more than 55% respondents with tertiary education correctly indicated that they get their information on patients' rights from the Patients' Charter. Communication with the doctor is rated at an average level and the content provided is insufficient. The results obtained indicate insufficient knowledge of medical staff about the importance of communicating information. In studies comparing the level of knowledge of patient rights, there is a correlation between gender and education of the respondents. The results of our own research show that detailed knowledge of patient rights issues is insufficient. Based on the results, it can be concluded that patients' satisfaction with the information received translates into understanding and cooperation with medical staff and decision-making in the further course of treatment.
