This article presents the new entitlement to pain treatment for patients in Poland, in force since May 2017, and analyses the legal regulations related to access to pain treatment in inpatient, outpatient and home care. The basis for the consideration of the title to pain treatment is provided by Polish and international law regulations, as well as available case law. The authors presented the availability of medicinal products containing narcotics in their composition, as one of the obstacles to appropriate pain treatment is the concern regarding the possibility of developing psychological dependence during treatment with opioid analgesics.
