Just as developments in scientific research in the fields of astronomy and physics have challenged the anthropocentric vision of the world, contemporary developments in biology have dealt a blow to the anthropocentric vision of nature, to which both the theory of evolution and the discovery of the genetic code common to all living organisms have contributed. The crisis of anthropocentrism challenges contemporary ethics, which seeks to redefine the place of human beings in the world and to provide us with categories through which we can understand ourselves. This feature of ethical considerations plays a special role in bioethics, one of the main goals of which is to set limits to biomedical interventions in human life.
