Linguistic information expertise on the example of Polish and German terms in clinical neuropsychology and its psychological aspects in the communication process between specialist and non-specialist

The aim of this article is to discuss issues related to the linguistic encoding of factual knowledge in German and Polish and its psychological aspects in the communication process between specialist and non-specialist. The article analyses the terms used in clinical neuropsychology. The basic question that motivates this discussion is whether every instance of linguistic encoding of content knowledge automatically leads to linguistic expertise and whether every product of the combination of content knowledge and language claims its own linguistic encoding - that is , its linguistic existence in language. The analysis showed that linguistic knowledge derived from content knowledge can be divided into terms, general terms and special terms, and among these only the last group has its own linguistic encoding in the sense of expert language. The analysis also showed that the aforementioned differentiation of linguistic knowledge is crucial for expert communication between specialist and non-specialist. The interaction between doctor (specialist) and patient (non-specialist) is determined by various factors affecting the entire communication process and takes place through several channels, each of which is essential for effective communication. Practical aspects of communication are also very important, such as adapting the language of the specialist to the age, personality, educational level and intellectual capacity of the patient. The effectiveness of communication depends on the choice of appropriate linguistic means and the correct form of expression at both lexical and syntactic levels. In this context, it has been proven that, from a psychological point of view, a specialist should avoid expert language when communicating with a non-specialist.
