In this article, I substantiate the thesis that links the rise of proposed theoretical models of the doctor-patient relationship with the emergence of bioethics. I then analyse several such approaches. I use the analysis to critically consider the arguments invoked by opponents of the construction of successive proposals. After presenting their arguments, I move on to defend the thesis of the need to construct new accounts of the doctor-patient relationship.
