How to talk effectively to the patient and their family? GP practice

12 December 2022

The aim of the book is to provide practical information that will help the GP to establish and maintain contact with the patient and learn about their expectations and concerns about their illness, and for medical students to see what the work of a patient-centred doctor is all about. The publication describes, among other things, models of medical consultation, the course of the medical visit, communicating with the patient in difficult situations and when there are medically unexplained syndromes (MUS), the child as a patient (conversation, building trust, the problem of the child victim) and the principles of communicating in emergencies and life-threatening conditions. A good relationship with the patient enables an accurate diagnosis to be made and the patient to understand the doctor's explanations.

The book is an excellent supplement to mandatory training for health professionals on working with difficult patients and conflict resolution in the doctor-patient relationship
