"The book is devoted to a broad issue - the doctor-patient relationship, encompassing conditions that not only foster better communication, but also provide the prerequisites for mutual understanding between doctor and patient and their cooperation leading to an agreement on a common therapeutic decision. It is therefore an attempt to describe a humanistic medicine - open to the patient's concerns and worries, understanding and cooperative. An active doctor, who cooperates with the patient, supports him in overcoming the disease and its consequences, because only a doctor who understands the patient is able to care for him responsibly and only a caring doctor is able to cooperate with him in the treatment process. The description of this relationship requires an interdisciplinary approach - drawing on various fields of humanistic knowledge to help identify those necessary medical competences that serve to build a proper relationship with the patient.
